Tokyo stocks lose ground in morning on profit taking after winning streak

Xinhua, April 22, 2016 Adjust font size:

Tokyo stocks lost ground Friday morning as investors opted to take profits following the market's recent run of gains, with Wall Street's poor performance overnight and a firm yen doing little to bolster sentiment.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 16.26 points, or 0.09 percent, from Thursday to 17,347.36.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 2.99 points, or 0.21 percent, to 1,390.69.

Notable decliners by the morning break comprised miscellaneous products, electric power and gas, and retail-linked shares. Endit
