Tokyo stocks slipped from the bell on Friday following a lackluster performance overnight on Wall Street, with a comparatively firm yen also denting investor sentiment.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 110.96 points, or 0.64 percent, from Thursday to 17,252.66.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 7.94 points, or 0.57 percent, to 1,385.74.

Early notable decliners comprised oil and coal product, wholesales, and glass and ceramics product-linked stocks. Endit
