Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong met with Richard Brodhead, president of Duke University on Thursday in Beijing.

People-to-people exchanges serve as a vital pillar for relations between China and the United States, Liu said, adding that the China-U.S. high-level consultation on people-to-people exchanges plays an important role in enhancing understanding and friendship between the people of two countries.

During the past six years, the two countries have reached around 400 cooperation achievements in education, technology, culture, sports, health care, and personnel exchanges among women and youth, according to Liu. Endi
