Russia delivers 30 tons of aid to quake-hit Ecuador

Xinhua, April 21, 2016 Adjust font size:

Russia has sent 30 tons of humanitarian aid to quake-hit Ecuador, the Russian Emergencies Ministry said Thursday.

"A Russian Il-76 aircraft delivered foodstuffs, tents and mobile power plants to Ecuador under the ruling of the Russian president," the ministry said in a statement published on its website.

The 7.8-magnitude quake, the strongest to jolt Ecuador since 1979, has by late Wednesday claimed 553 lives, injured more than 4,000 others, leveled over 800 buildings and ripped off roads of some 1,000 km long when it struck on Saturday. Endi
