A latest opinion poll shows Keiko Fujimori may win the Peruvian presidential election in the runoff in June with around 43.6 percent of the projected votes, according to results of a latest poll released by consultancy firm CPI on Tuesday.
She is expected to have a slight lead over her opponent Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, who could obtain around 41.5 percent of the projected votes.
That would give the leader of the Popular Force Party a lead of 2.1 percent of the votes in the runoff, based on the survey.
Fujimori and Kuczynski will compete in a runoff after winning the top two places in the first round on April 10 with 39.81 and 20.99 percent of the votes respectively, as neither of them crossed the 50 percent threshold needed to claim an outright win.
CPI estimates that an average of 9.1 percent of voters could cast a blank vote and 5.8 percent of voters surveyed said they still had not decided which candidate they would vote for in June.
A previous survey conducted by CPI before the first round of the presidential election showed that Fujimori would obtain 43.5 percent of the vote while Kuczynski would only obtain 38 percent. Endi
