The following are news highlights in Ethiopia's major media outlets on Wednesday.

-- The House of People's Representatives (HPR) Tuesday approved double taxation avoidance and tax evasion control bills.

The double taxation avoidance and tax evasion control agreements were signed with Ireland, United Arab Emirates and the Netherlands.

The elimination of double taxation helps to ease trade and investment flows from the signatory countries and to contribute its share to Ethiopia's economic growth. (Ethiopian News Agency/ENA)

-- Ethiopian President Mulatu Teshome has called on Chinese investors to boost their involvement in geothermal and renewable energy.

-- Ethiopia and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Tuesday signed a framework agreement for ICRC's activities in Ethiopia.

Signing the agreement, Ethiopian State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Taye Atske-selassie stated the ICRC's activities in Ethiopia date back to 1981 and that their support in several areas is highly appreciated. (Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation/EBC)

-- Taye Atske-selassie, Ethiopian State Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Sebastien Frendo, Country Head of Africa Governance Initiative (AGI) Tuesday signed an agreement for the establishment of regional office for AGI in Ethiopia.

Africa Governance Initiative is a non-profitable organization established by Tony Blair, its Patron and former UK Prime Minister, to ensure that governments in Africa are equipped to meet the next set of challenges and continue to accelerate their progress in areas of investment and industrialization.
