Tokyo shares end slightly higher on oil prices rise

Tokyo shares ended the trading Wednesday slightly higher on the rebounding oil prices, but sentiment was weighed by the yen's slight advance.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average inched up 32.10 points, or 0.19 percent, from Tuesday at 16,906.54, after briefly topped the 17,000 line in the morning.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 2.75 points, or 0.20 percent, at 1,365.78.

Gainers were led by oil and coal product, mining, and financial stock issues.

The day's turnover was about 2,239.3 billion yen (around 20.56 billion U.S. dollars). Enditem
