Tokyo shares open higher on rebounding oil prices

Tokyo shares opened the trading Wednesday higher following upbeat U.S. stocks performances overnight and the recovery of oil prices.

At 9:15 a.m. local time, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 166.35 points, or 0.99 percent, from Tuesday to 17,040.79.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 12.93 points, or 0.95 percent, to 1,375.96. Endit
