Britain's Bohunt School to open new school in east China

Xinhua, April 18, 2016 Adjust font size:

Bohunt Education Trust (BET), famous for its participation of BBC's Chinese school series last summer, announced Monday to open a new school in east China.

Cooperated with Wenzhou Xinzhi Education Technology Company, BET said the new school, Wenzhou Bohunt International School, which located in Oujiangkou District, Wenzhou city in eastern Zhejiang Province, will open in 2018.

Chinese students who enter the school will be taught a Bohunt-style curriculum and take British qualification examinations. As well as leading an exchange programme, BET will provide teacher training and recruitment support, play an advisory role on building design and attracting students, develop teaching materials and the school's curriculum and provide strategic oversight and consultancy for the senior leadership team.

The trust said BBC's series last summer highlighted the benefits of collaboration and how sharing best practice could improve students' learning experiences. Establishing partnership with China would allow the trust to understand in real depth the benefits of different styles of teaching for the benefit of both British and Chinese students.

"Collaboration has always underpinned our philosophy at Bohunt - it is one of the reasons we decided to take part in the Chinese School series. Our experience of the series further emphasised the importance of working with others - and learning from them - to deliver the very best education, and this is exactly what this partnership is all about," said Neil Strowger, Chief Executive of Bohunt Education Trust.

Jiang Zengyao, director of Administrative Committee of Oujiangkou District, where the new school located, welcomed BET and the establishment of the new school, saying the new school would provide better education services for local residents and improve the district's reputation.

"Education is key to the development of the Oujiangkou District. As this district is the leading area in Wenzhou, it is clear that Bohunt is the right choice," said Huang Wenjie, CEO of Xinzhi Education Technology Company. Endit
