South Korea defended their throne in Asia as they won seven gold medals at the Asian fencing Championships which ended here on Monday.

Led by world No. 2 player Gu Bongil, South Korea had an easy 45-20 victory over China in the men's epee team final, winning their seventh gold in this tournament.

China took a revenge in the women's foil team final, edging South Korea 45-43 for their third gold in the championships.

South Korea led 35-28 after seven rounds before China's Liu Yongshi cut the deficit to 36-37 in the eighth round. Then Le Huilin upset Nam Hyunhee 9-6 to give China the final victory.

"I kept telling myself to hold on in the last round, because we hadn't beaten South Korea for long time," said Le, who won the Asian title for the first time. Endi
