Bahrain arrests suspects in petrol bomb attack

Xinhua, April 18, 2016 Adjust font size:

Bahrain police said it had arrested a number of suspects in connection with a petrol bomb attack on Saturday, in which a policeman was killed and two others injured.

"The case has so far resulted in the arrest of a number of suspects," the Interior Ministry said in a statement.

Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, the minister of interior, said on Sunday in a meeting with senior officers that "anyone who incites violence will be held accountable by law."

On Saturday, an on-duty policeman was killed and two others injured in a Molotov cocktail attack in Karbabad village.

Since 2011, 17 policemen have been killed, Khalifa said, vowing to bring everyone involved in these crimes to justice.

"The most recent terrorist attack in Karbabad was the result of incitement from both inside and outside of Bahrain," he said, warning parents to protect their children from online incitement.

He said that police personnel are legally authorised to use force against anyone who jeopardises the lives of police officers or the security of the nation. Endit
