Eleven people including six women were killed and 30 others injured Friday after a mini-truck carrying members of a marriage party overturned in central Indian state of Chhattisgarh, officials said.

The accident took place on Narayanpur-Bhanupratappur road in Kanker district, 126 km south of Raipur city, the capital of Chhattisgarh.

"The vehicle, carrying 45 people, was going to Bhanupratappur, when it met the accident at around 12:30 p.m. local time," an official said.

"The injured have been admitted to Antagarh hospital and critically injured were referred to hospitals in Kanker and Raipur for specialized treatment."

Police officials rushed to the spot and removed bodies from the damaged vehicle on the road.
