A fugitive surrendered to police on Friday, after being named as one of China's 10 most-wanted telecom- and Internet-fraud suspects, according to the Ministry of Public Security (MPS).
Wu Chunyan, 38, is accused of stealing an instant messaging service account and tricking friends of the owner of the account into transferring 6 million yuan (927,000 U.S. dollars) to her and her accomplice in 2013.
While nine of her accomplice have been captured and sentenced to up to 12 years in prison, Wu had been evading capture.
The MPS published the top 10 suspects on Sunday, offering groups or individuals 50,000 yuan for any information leading to the arrest of any of the suspects.
Wu surrendered to police in Binyang, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, her hometown, pending investigation. Endit
