Israeli forces storm, burn money exchange firm in Ramallah

Xinhua, April 14, 2016 Adjust font size:

Palestinian sources said that Israeli security forces stormed a money exchange firm in Ramallah in a predawn raid Thursday and set it on fire.

The Israeli forces seized all content, including funds, saying they are used for terrorist purposes.

Witnesses said the soldiers threw hand grenades, which lead to a fire in the firm and nearby shops.

The sources said that the raid came 24 hours after the firm owner, who is claimed to have link with Islamic Hamas movement, was detained by Israel.

According to Israeli media reports, the soldiers attempted to blow a safe in the store open with explosives, which apparently caused a fire in the building.

Palestinians clashed with the military forces after the explosion was heard in the shop that is located near a main square in the city, leaving a few lightly injured.

Recently, Israel has targeted several firms linked to Hamas and Islamic Jihad movements, including two TV stations which then closed down their offices in Ramallah. Endit
