UNDP opens first incubation center for women entrepreneurs in Togo

Xinhua, April 14, 2016 Adjust font size:

The UN Development Programme (UNDP) has inaugurated in Lome the first incubation center for women entrepreneurs in Togo.

The center to support women, dubbed "INNOV'UP," is the fruit of partnership between the Federation of Women Enterpreneurs in Togo and UNDP.

The objective of the center, which was funded by the UNDP, is to promote and develop women entrepreneurship through active and integrated support of their economic initiatives in sectors that have high potential to generate wealth and create jobs.

UNDP Resident Representative in Togo Khardiata Lo N'Diaye said the INNOV'UP center will be used for hatching business ideas for women and also craft ways for implementing them.

"It aims to become an important tool for poverty reduction in Togo as it will propose concrete solutions to challenges that have obstructed women from emerging as competitive entrepreneurs," she said. Endit
