China design center to open in Italy's design capital Milan

Xinhua, April 14, 2016 Adjust font size:

A China design center will open in Italy's design capital Milan to promote the exchanges and cooperation between China and Italy in this field, industry operators announced here on Wednesday.

The center, named China Design Center Milan Studio Project, will be a result of the collaboration between China International Publishing Group (CIPG) and Mondadori, Italy's largest media group and owner of Interni Italia, a leading magazine of interiors and contemporary design.

Interni China, the Chinese version of Interni Italia co-published by CIPG and Mondadori, was launched after Mondadori signed copyrights cooperation with CIPG at the beginning of last year.

Yang Dongjiang, editor in chief of Interni China, told Xinhua on the sidelines of the center's launching ceremony held at the University of Milan during the ongoing Design Week that the magazine aims at presenting to Chinese readers the latest design and architecture trends, both in China and in the rest of the world, and to guide China's design industry to the world stage.

Some 60 percent of Interni China, Yang observed, results from the ideas of a Chinese team of experienced journalists who are in contact with avant-garde designers and studios at the international level.

At the same way, the China Design Center Milan Studio Project will be a base camp for Chinese designers to ascend the international design arena as well as a hospitality room for Italian and global design to enter China.

Dozens of Chinese and Italian designers along with political and commercial celebrities attended the launching ceremony, named 2016 Milan Design Week China Night.

"Our collaboration with Interni China is increasingly complete in terms of culture, information and articles exchange," said the editor in chief of Interni Italia Gilda Bojardi.

"In this way we can better get close to modern Chinese culture and to the contemporary culture of architecture in China," she told Xinhua.

The Milan Design Week, Bojardi added, needs continuous innovation and research, and the presence of Interni China in the Italian design capital is a sign of this international spirit. Endit
