Nigeria directs update on police armories

Xinhua, April 14, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Nigerian government on Wednesday directed an update on all armories in all police formations in the country.

This was to ascertain the condition of ammunition in police armory, Solomon Arase, Nigeria's Inspector-General of Police, said in southeast city of Uyo.

The police boss was reacting to a complaint by a police officer who alleged that he was given 30 rounds from the armory while on duty, but discovered that they had expired.

Arase cautioned officers to avoid going out with expired ammunition, and advised armorers to always check their ammunition to ensure that they have not expired in order to protect the lives of their officers.

The police chief also assured all officers and men of adequate welfare package. Endit
