Turkish, Kazakh presidents urge for new paradigm of relations in Islamic world

Xinhua, April 13, 2016 Adjust font size:

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Kazakh counterpart Nursultan Nazarbayev on Wednesday called on the Islamic world to adopt a new paradigm of relations among them.

"We call on OIC member states to support Islamic convergence and consider it as a new political platform for the Islamic community," the two leaders said in a joint declaration released following their meeting in Istanbul, the Anadolu Agency said.

Nazarbayev is in Istanbul for the 13th summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) slated for Thursday and Friday, which is expected to draw over 50 heads of state and government.

Nazarbayev and Erdogan also advised Islamic countries to exert common efforts to prevent organized crimes, migration, poverty and global warming in the face of increasing threat of terrorism, economic problems and disputes among civilizations. Endit
