Nurse gets death sentence for murdering boyfriend

Xinhua, April 13, 2016 Adjust font size:

A nurse in east China was sentenced to death on Wednesday for murdering her fiance with sleeping pills and insulin injections over a dispute about their wedding plans.

Due to an argument over the delay of the wedding, Ms. Tao, a nurse with Shanghai No. 6 People's Hospital, offered water with sleeping powder in it to her boyfriend, surname Luo, at her residence on April 1 last year. After Luo fell asleep, she injected him with a large amount of insulin, according to the Shanghai No. 1 Intermediate People's Court.

She obtained the sleeping pills, syringe and insulin from the hospital.

Luo was later found dead by his relatives. He died from respiratory and central nervous system failure.

The court also deprived the defendant of her political rights for life after convicting her of intentional homicide. She did not say whether she would appeal. Endi
