Japan's wholesale prices decline in March for 12th straight month

Japan's wholesale prices fell 3.8 percent in March from a year earlier marking the 12th successive month of decline, the Bank of Japan (BOJ) said in a report on Wednesday.

The index of corporate goods prices stood at 99.6 against the base of 100 set in 2010, the BOJ said in a preliminary report.

According to the bank's report, export prices dropped 9.1 percent, while import prices tumbled 20.2 percent in yen terms.

The central bank said that exports of electric & electronic products, as well as transportation equipment and textiles, contributed to the decline, while imports were impacted by wood, lumber & related products, foodstuffs and electric & electronic products' prices slipping. Endit
