Sanogo Abou wins first stage in Togo cycling race

Sanogo Abou of Ivory Coast on Tuesday won the first stage of Togo 25th international cycling race here.

Abou pedaled in three hours, 27 minutes and 12 seconds to win the race from Lome to Atakpame, which is 141 km.

Abou won the yellow jersey ahead of Minougou Noufou from Burkina Faso in the sprint.

The Togolese cyclist Daku Edem came third by 3:27:14.

The next stage Sokode-Kara of 73 km long is scheduled for Wednesday after 180 km transshipment.

The competition gathers 70 cyclists from ten countries of Benin, Burkina-Faso, Cote d'Ivoire, France, Ghana, Nigeria, Mali, Senegal, Democratic Republic of Congo and Togo.

The 25th international cycling race of Togo is a six stages tour of a total distance of 639.5 km with 789 km transshipment. It will end on 17 April. Endit
