Xinhua, April 12, 2016 Adjust font size:

Russian Sukhoi Superjet 100 airline "Yakutia" began to perform test flights between Russia's eastern city of Khabarovsk and China's Fuyuan city located on their border, the airline said on Tuesday.

"The route of the flight is brand-new and has been approved by the Chinese side," Nicholas Smetana, representative of the airline, told the Russian news agency RIA Novosti.

According to the airline, five charter flights of Sukhoi Superjet 100 are scheduled for the period till April 20.

The Sukhoi Superjet 100 is a modern fly-by-wire twin-engine regional jet with eight first class seats and 108 economy passenger seats.

The airliner was designed and produced by Sukhoi, a division of the Russian civil aerospace company, in cooperation with several foreign partners.

Last month, a Chinese firm signed a framework agreement with Sukhoi to set up an assembly line in central China's Zhengzhou city for the production of the Sukhoi Superjet 100. Endi
