-- Prison authorities in Zambia intend to start an entrepreneurship empowerment program for female inmates as a way of empowering them.

Zambia Correctional Service Commissioner-General Percy Chato said the project would provide inmates with an opportunity to use the life skills to improve their lives once discharged from prison and re-integrated into their various communities. (DAILY NATION)

-- The World Bank has said the appreciation of the Zambian currency was a positive sign and has urged the government to work hard in implementing austerity measures it has put in place.

World Bank senior country economist Gregory Smith said that 2016 is a tough year for emerging markets like Zambia and that most countries experienced depreciation of currencies at the end of last year.

The Zambian currency, the kwacha, posted improvements against major convertible currencies having appreciated more than two percent since last Friday, according to financial analysts. (ZAMBIA DAILY MAIL)

-- Zambia's road safety agency has suspended the license of a minibus that was involved in a road accident in central Zambia's Kabwe town in which 25 people died.

The Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) has slapped a three-month suspension on the owner of the mini bus for operating outside the designated locality while the other bus has been given a seven-day ultimatum to show cause why its license should not be revoke.
