Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy to visit India Wednesday

Xinhua, April 12, 2016 Adjust font size:

Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy will arrive in India Wednesday on a tour of this country, sources said Tuesday.

"During his stay in the national capital, Sarkozy will meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and also hold talks with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh," the sources said.

The former French president will also hold an interactive session with business representatives at a day-long conference organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, in collaboration with the Indo-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

India and France share a strong bond. There has been stronger cooperation in several fields between the two countries.

Indo-French relations received a boost in 2015. Modi had made a landmark visit to Paris in April last year, and also held a bilateral meeting with French President Francois Hollande on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York in September 2015. The two leaders again met in November last year during the Paris climate summit. Enditem
