Clash kills 4 including 3 police in N. Afghanistan

Four people including three police and an insurgent commander were killed as clash erupted in Rabatak area of Samangan province with Aybak as its capital 215 km north of Kabul on Friday, a senior police official said.

"A group of Taliban militants stormed a police checkpoint in Rabatak area early Friday and police returned fire triggering gun battle during which three police personnel and a Taliban commander Mullah Nurahman had been killed," Sayed Sarwar Hussaini told Xinhua.

Five more insurgents sustained injuries during the clash which lasted for two hours, the official added.

Taliban militants who are active in parts of Kunduz province haven't commented. Enditem
