Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen has congratulated Nguyen Xuan Phuc on his election as the Vietnamese prime minister.

"I'm fully confident that, in line with the spirit of good neighborliness, traditional friendship, solidarity and multifaceted cooperation, the bilateral ties between our two countries will be further enhanced and deepened for the mutual benefit of our two peoples as well as for building a strong and relevant ASEAN Community," he said in a message dated Thursday and released to the media on Friday.

"While looking forward to working closely with Your Excellency, may I take this opportunity to wish Your Excellency all my best wishes for good health, happiness and greater success in realizing the new five-year plan of socio-economic development 2016-2020 for the continued prosperity and well-being of the people of Vietnam," he added.

Phuc was elected by the Vietnamese parliament on Thursday as the country's new prime minister, replacing Nguyen Tan Dung, who was relieved from the duty of Vietnamese prime minister on Wednesday. Endit
