Spanish treasury places 3.779 bln euros worth of bonds on market

The Spanish treasury on Thursday placed treasury bonds worth 3.779 billion euros (4.294 billion U.S. dollars) on the market registering a demand of around 7.5 billion euros.

A total of 1.555 billion euros worth of 10-year treasury bonds fetched an average interest rate of 1.49 percent, which was slightly above the 1.48 percent of the previous auction.

A further 935 euros worth of 30-year treasury bonds carried an average interest rate of 2.69 percent, while the placement also included 878 million euros worth of five-year treasury bonds that fetched an average interest rate of 0.56 percent, which was below the 0.7 percent of the previous auction.

Finally the treasury placed 410 million euros worth of 15-year inflation-linked bonds that carried an average interest rate of 0.95 percent, which was below the 1.55 percent of the previous issue.

So far, the Spanish treasury has placed 44 billion euros of medium and long term debt on the market, which represents 35.1 percent of the country's financial goals for the year, 125.3 billion euros. (1 euro=1.14 U.S. dollars) Enditem
