Fire in asylum accommodation injures nine in Germany

A fire broke out on Wednesday night in an accommodation house for asylum seekers in southern German city of Neutraubling, Bavarian police said Thursday.
Fifteen asylum seekers from Syria, Libya and Iraq were living in the house when the fire broke out. Nine of them got smoke inhalation, including a pregnant women and two young kids, who are six months old and two years old respectively, the police stated on its website.
About 40 firefighters, 20 emergency rescuers and 4 doctors were on the scene of the fire, which caused an initially estimated damage of about 50,000 euros (56,867 U.S. dollars).
According to the report, the fire came firstly from the basement, but the cause was still not clear at the moment.
There is no clear evidence of a xenophobic background at present, according to the police. The criminal investigation department has already begun investigation. Endit
