15 movies shortlisted at Beijing Int'l Film Festival

A total of 15 movies have been selected for the competition at the 6th Beijing International Film Festival, which will be chaired by Brett Ratner, executive producer of "The Revenant."

According to the organizing committee on Wednesday, 15 out of 433 films from 42 countries and regions have been accepted for the main competition and a chance at the Tiantan Award, which offers honors in ten categories, including best feature film, best director, best actor, best actress and best music.

Besides Brett Ratner, the jury of the Tiantan Award also includes Teddy Chan from Hong Kong, German director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, Romanian director Corneliu Porumboiu, Japanese director Yojiro Takita, Bosnian director Danis Tanovic and Chinese actress Xu Qing.

Spanish films "A Perfect Day" and "Tiempo Sin Aire" are on the shortlist, which is also shared by Canadian film "Grand Unified Theory", "I am a teacher" from Russia, Polish "Klezmer", Danish "Land of Mine" and contestants from Romania, Germany, Britain, Georgia, Argentina and China.
