Xinhua, April 6, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) pledged to strengthen communication and cooperation to promote development of bilateral relations.

The pledge came out of a meeting between Liu Yunshan, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, and an LPRP delegation led by Sounthone Xayachack, head of the LPRP Central Committee's Commission for external relations.

Extending congratulations to the LPRP for holding its 10th national congress in January, Liu said the CPC will firmly support Laos's socialist construction, and is ready to conduct closer high-level exchanges, deepen cooperation and share experience with the LPRP in governance to advance the comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation between the two countries.

Sounthone thanked the Chinese side for its long-term assistance to Laos, saying the exchanges between the two parties are important for the LPRP to strengthen the party and improve governance. She said the new leadership of the LPRP is ready to improve its relationship with the CPC and jointly promote development of bilateral relations.

Song Tao, head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, also held talks with Sounthone on Wednesday. Endi
