Nigerien Prime Minister Brigi Rafini who was re-appointed on Tuesday to his position by President Mahamadou Issoufou, was sworn on the same day before parliament.

Rafini was confirmed by Issoufou who was re-elected recently, shortly after the latter taking the oath of office to serve his second five-year term as Niger's president.

According to Niger's Constitution, before the head of government starts performing his functions, he must take an oath while holding a holy book, in Rafini's case a Koran, before parliament.

Rafini who was born in 1953 in the Far North region of Agadez, is a very experienced individual on Niger's political scene.
