Colombia to participate in Olympic qualifier playoffs

Colombia' s women' s volleyball national team still dreams of playing in Rio de Janeiro 2016 and continue training for the Olympic Qualifying playoffs to be held next month in Puerto Rico, international press reported on Tuesday.

According to Cuban news agency Prensa Latina, the Colombian women' s team will attend the Olympic Qualifying playoffs on May 20 to 22 in Puerto Rico. Colombia will face Kenya and Egypt, who are second and third in Africa.

Colombia defeated Chile 3-1 to finish third in South American qualifying tournament in January.

Argentina defeated Peru 3-1 to get a direct ticket to the Games as the winners of South America, while second-placed Peru needs to play another playoff tournament in Japan between May 14 and June 5.

In Japan, the Peruvian team will face the host team, South Korea, Thailand, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, Italy and the Dominican Republic. Endit
