The following are news highlights in South Africa's major media outlets on Tuesday.

-- The national leadership of the African National Congress (ANC) on Monday night gave its full backing to President Jacob Zuma at an extraordinary meeting of its national working committee in Cape Town, accepted Zuma's apology over Nkandla. The president insisted that while liable to pay back some of the money spent on his homestead, he had not broken his oath of office.(Business Day).

-- The National Assembly is set to debate a motion on Tuesday tabled by the Democratic Alliance to have President Jacob Zuma removed from office.

This follows last week's Constitutional Court ruling that Zuma failed to uphold the Constitution when he did not comply with Public Protector Thuli Madonsela's remedial action regarding payment for the upgrades to his Nkandla homestead. (Mail & Guardian).

-- Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan has thrown down the gauntlet to his boss, taking a veiled swipe at President Jacob Zuma and accusing him and others of dereliction of duty.

He also lashed out at "greedy and selfish" leaders who brazenly looted state coffers and disregard democratic institutions, holding the country back.(The Star). Enditem
