Spanish couple attacked in western India

Xinhua, April 5, 2016 Adjust font size:

A Spanish woman was molested and her male companion thrashed by a group of men in the western Indian state of Rajasthan late Monday evening.

"The incident happened in the state's town of Pushkar when the Spanish couple were on their way to a temple in a rented bike. The men molested her before snatching her bag," a police official said.

Her male companion was also brutally beaten up when he tried to intervene, the official said, on condition of anonymity.

The Spanish couple are currently being treated at a hospital in the nearby town of Ajmer by the manager of the hotel where they were staying at.

"No police complaint has been filed yet as the couple were too terrified to do so. However, efforts are on to nab the culprits," the official said. Endit
