Kazakhstan to announce doping investigation on weightlifters in late April

Xinhua, April 5, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Ministry of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan plans to announce the results of an investigation on suspended weightlifters late in April, an official said on Monday.

Elsiyar Kanagatov, chairman of the Committee of Sports and Physical Culture, said they had established a special commission to investigate the athletes suspected of doping.

Almas Uteshev, Zhasulan Kydyrbaev and Yermek Omirtay are temporarily prohibited to participate in any competitions for suspicions of using banned substances during the World Weightlifting Championships last November in Houston.

Kydyrbaev, who has been already suspended for two years in 2012 for doping, could face a life ban if he is convicted this time. Endit
