Belarus denies giving military aid to either Karabakh side

Xinhua, April 5, 2016 Adjust font size:

Belarus does not provide any military assistance to either party to the Karabakh conflict, Belarusian Foreign Ministry said on Monday.

"As to the claims made in certain media outlets about Belarus' military assistance to one of the parties, these are nothing but unfounded rumors," press secretary of the Ministry Dmitry Mironchik said in his statement.

Belarus calls on the parties to the conflict to refrain from the threat or use of force in international relations as stipulated in the UN Charter and other international legal instruments, Mironchik said.

"We continue to believe that the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh can be settled through peaceful means only and in accordance with the generally recognized principles and norms of international law," the official stressed.

"Belarusian Foreign Ministry is always ready to promote the peaceful settlement of the conflict at negotiations," the press secretary said. Endit
