Xinhua, April 4, 2016 Adjust font size:

Jordan reiterated its support Sunday for efforts towards a political solution to unify Syria, the state-run Petra news agency reported.

The remarks were made by Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour at a meeting with a US congressional delegation in Amman, in which he also said Jordan fully supports the talks in Geneva regarding Syria.

Reviewing regional challenges, the premier said Jordan managed to preserve its stability and security despite developments in Syria and Iraq.

Concerning the Palestinian issue, Ensour said finding a just and lasting solution which guarantees the rights of Palestinians will help restore stability and security to the Middle East.

He also brought up Jordan's role in protecting holy Islamic and Christian sites in Jerusalem.

Ensour expressed his appreciation for the US's support to Jordan in various fields.

The US delegation, in turn, articulated its support to the Kingdom and communicated its appreciation of the services Jordan provides to Syrian refugees. Enditem
