China donates over 7,000 medical beds to Uganda

Xinhua, April 2, 2016 Adjust font size:

China has donated to Uganda over 7,000 medical beds and mattresses worth about 6 million U.S. dollars, Chinese ambassador to Uganda has said.

Zhao Yali said the donations have been distributed to health facilities across the east African country.

According to the Ugandan Ministry of Health, each major hospital will receive about 100 mattresses while a county-level health center will receive 24 mattresses.

The ministry said the donations will enable the government to meet all the needs for beds and mattresses in general hospitals and county-level health centers around the country.

China has for long provided medical support to Uganda by sending medical teams and donating medical equipment and medicine. It has also helped Uganda build a 100-bed hospital. Endi
