Nigeria says ready to face Senegal in AWC qualifier

Xinhua, April 1, 2016 Adjust font size:

Nigeria's female national soccer team on Friday said preparation is in top gear to face their Senegalese counterparts in the final round of the African Women Cup of Nations (AWC) qualifying series which begin next week.

Spokesperson of the Nigerian team Remi Sulola told Xinhua the seven-time winners of the AWC have vowed to go all out on April 8 to defeat the Senegalese ladies and move ahead to defend their title at the championship.

"The girls are a compact team and they are working without pressure and they will do Nigeria proud," said the spokesperson.

Nigeria will play host to Senegal in the first leg of the qualifiers, while the Super Falcons, as the Nigerian ladies are officially called, will travel to Senegal two weeks later for the second leg.

The AWC will be hosted by Cameroon later in the year. Endit
