Singapore stocks close 0.79 pct lower

Singapore stocks finished lower on Friday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 22.41 points, or 0.79 percent, to close at 2,818.49.

A total of 1.41 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 972.6 million Singapore dollars (720.4 million U.S. dollars).

Decliners outnumbered gainers 235 to 145, while 540 others finished unchanged.

The STI index lost 31.88 points, or 1.11 percent, to close at 2,840.90 on Thursday. Endit
