Spain's prices fall by 0.8 pct in March

Spain's consumer prices fell by 0.8 percent in March when compared with the same month a year earlier, according to advanced data of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) published Thursday by Spain's Statistical Office (INE).

According to the INE, prices of fuel and lubricants rose less in March in comparison with that in March, 2015 while prices of food and non-alcoholic drinks remained stable. The INE will confirm the data on April 13 when it will provide more details about the evolution of prices.

Spain's consumer prices have been falling for three consecutive months this year, falling by 0.3 percent in January and by 0.8 percent in February.

The inflation rate was negative almost throughout the year 2015 except the months of June, July and December with rates of 0.1 percent, 0.1 percent and zero percent respectively.

Meanwhile, on a month-to-month basis, Spain's consumer prices rose by 0.6 percent from February to March. Endit
