Britain pledges continuous support to Lebanon to fight jihadists

Visiting British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond pledged Thursday that his country will continue in the future to consolidate Lebanon's security in the confrontation with jihadists.

According to the National News Agency (NNA), Hammond held talks with Prime Minister Tammam Salam at his residence in Beirut's Msaytbeh area because Salam is in mourning over his mother's death.

Hammond said that after the meeting he discussed with the Lebanese PM on Britain's military support to Lebanon.

Hammond also held talks with Speaker Nabih Berri at Ain el-Tineh.

He is scheduled to hold talks with Foreign Minister Jebran Bassil during his one-day visit to Beirut.

The British Foreign Secretary is set to hold a joint press conference with Bassil Thursday afternoon. Endit
