Iceland sees increase of foreign visitor overnight stays in Feb.

Iceland saw a 41-percent increase year-on-year in the number of foreigners who stayed overnight in hotels in February, official figures showed on Thursday.

According to Statistics Iceland, the number of people who paid for accommodations in Icelandic hotels rose to 267,900 in February, a 37-percent increase compared with February 2015.

Meanwhile, foreign tourists accounted for 89 percent of the people who stayed in Icelandic hotels in February. The number of Icelandic citizens staying overnight in hotels increased 15 percent over the same period.

Foreigners who stayed in overnight accommodations in Iceland in February were mostly residents from the United Kingdom, the United States and Germany. Endite
