Peruvian candidate Keiko Fujimori leads the latest poll ahead of the April 10 presidential elections, reports said on Tuesday.
The candidate of the center-right Fuerza Popular (Popular Force) party and daughter of former President Alberto Fujimori (1990-2000), tops the list of hopefuls with 34.6 percent of the votes, according to polling firm CPI.
Trailing in distant second place is Pedro Kuczynski of the Peruanos por el Kambio (Peruvians for Change) party with 15 percent, followed by Alfredo Barnechea of the Popular Action party with 11.3 percent.
In the fourth and fifth places are Veronika Mendoza of the Frente Amplio (Broad Front) party with 10.9 percent, and two-time President Alan Garcia with 6 percent.
Another seven parties register less than 2 percent support each.
The CPI said between 15 and 17 percent of the electorate plans to null their vote.
A day earlier, two other polling companies, named Ipsos and Datum, reported similar figures, saying Fujimori led their polls with 32.1 and 34.4 percent respectively.
Nearly 23 million Peruvians are eligible to vote in the contest to replace President Ollanta Humala, who defeated Keiko Fujimori in a run-off in 2011.
Voters will also elect 130 legislators to the National Congress and five representatives to the Andean Parliament, the legislative assembly of the Andean Community, which is a customs union comprising the South American countries of Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. Endi
