Burkina Faso team arrives in Uganda ahead of Afcon qualifier

Xinhua, March 30, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Stallions of Burkina Faso have arrived in Uganda ahead of their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier against the hosts on Tuesday.

"We are here to try and get a second win against the Cranes," said attacking midfielder Jonathan Pitriopa who netted the penalty that gave Burkina Faso a 1-0 win on Saturday night in Ouagadougou.

The team chartered a plane and arrived in Uganda on Sunday morning with 60 members on board.

Burkina Faso coach Paulo Duarte said although they won the game on Saturday, they expect a very tough encounter on Tuesday because Uganda will be playing at home.

"We know Uganda is a good team playing at home and we shall try the game with a lot of caution," added Duarte.

Burkina Faso lead Group D with six points, while Uganda with the same number of points are second and Botswana third, while Comoros are bottom of the group. Endit
