China holds symposium to commemorate veteran revolutionary

China on Tuesday held a symposium to commemorate the 100th birthday of Chen Pixian, a veteran revolutionary and former senior legislator.

Zhang Dejiang, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, and chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), attended the seminar and met relatives of Chen.

Chen Pixian (1916-1995) was member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Central Committee. He was also vice chair of the NPC Standing Committee.

Meng Jianzhu, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said at the symposium the glorious tradition of the veteran revolutionaries should be carried forward and urged to make unremitting efforts for the realization of the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Vice President Li Yuanchao attended the symposium. Vice chair of the NPC Standing Committee Wang Chen presided over the symposium. Endi
