Xinhua, March 29, 2016 Adjust font size:

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said on Tuesday that he would host a banquet for members of the media once a year in order to forge closer relations.

His announcement was made following a request from Information Minister Khieu Kanharith.

"I accept this request with happiness," Hun Sen said in a speech at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh when he received the Peace and Development Award from the Union Media of ASEAN.

He said that to create a joyful atmosphere for the event, he would host members of the press with food and dance party.

"I hope that critics will not accuse me of buying the minds of the journalists," said the premier.

According to Hun Sen, Cambodia has some 20 television channels and 800 newspapers and magazines, as well as numerous news websites. Endit
