Sri Lanka calls on South Asian countries to unite to eliminate terrorism

Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena on Monday called on his South Asian partners to unite to eliminate terrorism in the region.

In a twitter message, strongly condemning the terror attack in Pakistan's eastern city of Lahore on Sunday, Sirisena said his condolences were with the loved ones of the victims of the attack which killed at least 70 people and injured 300.

A suicide bomber detonated at a crowded children's park in the Pakistani city on Sunday evening, mostly killing and injuring families who were celebrating the Easter festival.

A faction of the Pakistani Taliban, Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, has claimed responsibility for the attack. Endit
