1st LD: Small Plane Crash Leaves Four Dead in Western Japan

A small plane crashed at Yao Airport in Osaka Prefecture in western Japan Saturday afternoon, leaving four people onboard the plane dead, local press reported.

The accident occurred at around 4:30 p.m. local time when the "Mooney-type M20C" single-engine propeller plane carrying four people crashed and burnt down beside the runway at Yao Airport while attempting landing, the report said.

Doctors rushed to the accident site and confirmed the death of the four people.

The plane left Kobe Airport at around 4:00 p.m. local time and was bound for Yao Airport.

According to Osaka district meteorological observatory, weather was fine at Yao Airport at the time the accident happened.

The authorities are investigating the cause of the crash, the report said. Enditem
