Cambodian PM to pay first visit to Russia in May

Xinhua, March 24, 2016 Adjust font size:

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen will pay his first visit to Russia in May to enhance ties and cooperation between the two countries, a government official said Thursday.

"The prime minister will make a visit to Russia in May," Kao Kim Hourn, minister attached to Prime Minister Hun Sen, said in a press conference here, declining to give the exact days of the visit.

He said Hun Sen has been working actively to promote Cambodia's foreign policy in order to enhance relations and cooperation with friendly countries.

The official said the visit plan was unveiled during a meeting between Hun Sen and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich on Wednesday in southern China's Hainan Province, where they attended 2016 Boao Forum for Asia.

Cambodia and Russia have been seeing strengthening of their ties and cooperation through the exchange of high-level visits.

In November last year, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev paid his first visit to Cambodia, where he held talks with Hun Sen and witnessed signing of 10 cooperation agreements. Enditem
